Terms of Service for Sideris

Welcome to Sideris. These Terms of Service explain the rules for using the Sideris mobile application, provided by Sideris Studio, to unlock the wonder of the night sky and facilitate your celestial discovery. By downloading or using Sideris, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Sideris is an offline-first astronomy application that plate-solves images of your telescope's camera screen and displays the result on an interactive sky map. Plate-solving runs locally on your device. Results are generated automatically and are provided for hobbyist and educational use. They are approximate and should not be relied upon for navigation or any safety-critical purpose.

2. Free Trial and Purchase

Sideris is free to try. New users receive a limited number of free plate-solving credits so you can experience the app before deciding to buy. Once your free credits are used up, a single one-time purchase unlocks the full version of Sideris and gives you unlimited plate solving. Sideris is not a credit-based service: the free credits exist only to provide a trial, and no further credits are ever required once you own the app.

3. Payments

All purchases are processed securely by the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Sideris never sees or stores your payment card information. Purchases are final except where a refund is required by applicable law or by the store's own policies, which govern all transactions.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Sideris only for lawful purposes, and not to disrupt, reverse-engineer for redistribution, or otherwise misuse the app or its data beyond what applicable law permits.

5. Intellectual Property

Sideris, its design, and its original content are owned by Sideris Studio. Astronomical catalog data and imagery may be provided by third parties under their respective licences; attributions are listed in the Credits section of the app.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

Sideris is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that plate solving will always succeed or that results will be accurate.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sideris Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Any change is reflected in the "Effective Date" at the top of this document, and the current version is always available inside the app, under Settings. Continued use of Sideris after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
